United Launch Alliance set for Amazon Project Kuiper mission

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Kuiper 1, the launch of a Decatur-built United Launch Alliance Atlas V 551 rocket carrying the first production satellites for Amazon’s Project Kuiper, is planned for this week.

The launch begins the next chapter in the commercial launch industry as Amazon partners with ULA to deliver the first batch of their advanced satellites to low Earth orbit, according to a news release.

The launch is scheduled for Wednesday at noon EST from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at the opening of a three-hour window.
