TUSCALOOSA — The University of Alabama’s vehicle tag will feature a new look Sunday as the classic Vault A Alabama logo makes a comeback on the collegiate license plate.

Net proceeds from the license plate program provide scholarships to Alabama resident students.

During the 2024-2025 fiscal year, more than 120,000 UA vehicle and motorcycle tags were sold in Alabama, contributing $5.2 million toward undergraduate and graduate scholarships.

“The new design is a great way for alumni and friends to show their school spirit while helping students reach their goals,” said Jimmy Warren, executive director of the UA National Alumni Association.

The Vault A was introduced in 1973 and retired in 1998. It has recently regained popularity among Alabama coaches, players, students, alumni and fans for its old-school style.

The new UA tag embraces tradition while providing fans and alumni with a stylish way to show their Bama spirit and give back to students.

Individuals with the current UA tag can renew to the new design tag starting Sunday. Tags will be available at local county license offices Monday. Both numbered and personalized tags are available; the cost is $50 above the normal tag cost. Collegiate tags may be purchased at any time, regardless of an individual’s tag renewal month.

The National Alumni Association is made up of more than 35,000 active alumni and friends of the university organized into more than 100 local chapters nationwide. The association stimulates interest in and supports the betterment of the University and awards academic scholarships every year.
